ノイジーを他の選手と交代させる ― という岡田監督の苦言を英訳してみた（I translated into English Okada's complaint about replacing Neuse with another player）
岡田監督が交流戦で西武に2連敗して助っ人ノイジーに苦言を呈している。だが他の選手に対する苦言と異なり、その苦言が選手に直接伝わると考えにくい。担当通訳が助っ人に聞かせる場合でも、かなり表現が抑えられていることだろう。

「いや、もう、勝手に打っとるやろ。初球でもなあ。くそボール。ボールばっかりもう、なんぼ言うてもあかんなあ。おーん。あそこで（打線が）切れてしまうから。そら、もう線にならんもんな」
"No, he already hit it on his own. Even on the first pitch. Damn ball. I can't say it any more. Ohn, no. That's where the batting lineup breaks up. That's why they can't form a line anymore."
この日は初回、高めのボール気味の球に手を出し空振り三振。3回は右飛、5回2死二塁も右飛に倒れると、バットをたたきつけ悔しさを表していた。8回も初球を簡単に打ち上げ、右飛だった。

When he grounded out to right field in the 3rd inning and again in the 5th inning with two outs and a fly out to right field, he slapped his bat and expressed his frustration. In the 8th inning, he easily launched the first pitch and flew to right.
「打ちたい気持ちがはやってか？」と問われた指揮官は「打ちたい打ちたいって、そんなに打ってないやんか、今まで。何を言うてんのそんなの。打ちたい打ちたいで、みんな打たれへんで、そんなもん。よっぽど3割30本くらい打てるやつが言う言葉であって、そんな打ってへんやろ？ 2割5分で、ちょっとぐらいのホームランやしな」。さらに「他いてるよ。何でよ、そんなの。打てへんならいつまでも使わへんよ」と状態が上向かなければ、スタメンを外すことも示唆した。

こういうのを「余計なお世話」と言うのだろう。ノイジー選手の目に入る可能性は低いだろう。もし目に入ったら発奮材料になる可能性はあるが、監督に対する不信感が芽生えるかもしれない。阪神ファンの怒りが私にぶつけられるかもしれない。だが、言語の壁を当て込むのはいかがなものか。岡田監督も自らの発言が英語化される可能性は織り込み済みだと私は信じる。
